World’s Fastest Production Car: Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey Venom GT Grey backAs of late 2016, the world’s fastest production car is the Hennessey Venom GT. There is some debate over the legitimacy of the Hennessey’s position in the top spot. Technically, it is not mass-produced; it is hand-built. Additionally, its record speed of 270.4 mph set at the Kennedy Space Center was only in one direction. Some believe that record speeds only count if the car attempts both directions. Nonetheless, many still consider the Hennessey Venom GT the fastest production car available. With the chassis of a Lotus Elise, a 7.0-liter twin turbo V8 and 1,244 horsepower, the Hennessey’s top speed of 270.4 mph just barely beat’s out the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s record speed of 269.86 mph.

A new Hennessy Venom GT will likely cost you more than $1.5 million.
